Hello and welcome to our new blog.
Maesha and I would like you to use this as a place for resources for your children and just to check in on what’s happening at Blue Sky and in the world of Sensory Integration and Pediatric Occupational Therapy.

As the owner of this fun filled business, I felt it was time to find a current way to communicate with all our families. We will do our best to update it weekly.
Here is a little background information:
I am originally from right outside of Washington DC. I graduated in 1999 from Washington
University in St. Louis, with a major in Psychology. I then got my Master of Science in
Occupational Therapy (MSOT) Degree from
Rush University in Chicago, in 2002.
While in graduate school, I did my rotations at various hospitals and
schools in the Chicago area, focusing on Cerebral Palsy, Autism Spectrum
Disorder, and psychological disabilities. After school, I immediately started
working at a Therapeutic Day School for kids with Autism Spectrum Disorder,
Emotional Behavioral Disorder, and other severe disabilities. This is where I grew a love for Sensory
Integration and I was able to see how it impacted the lives of so many children
and families.
After meeting my husband in Chicago, and deciding to move to
Colorado to be near the mountains, I worked at Cherry Creek School District, in
Early Childhood Intervention. This
continued to foster my learning and passion for Sensory Integration and its
effects on motor skills, cognitive capabilities, and availability to learn, for
so many kids. I had wonderful mentors in
the Denver area, and continued to pursue courses and continuing education
within the Sensory Integration Frame of Reference.

After moving to Park City in 2006, I decided there was a
huge need for services in this area as well as a need to educate this community
on Sensory Integration. I spent a month
in North Carolina receiving my Certification in Sensory Integration, as I
simultaneously opened the doors of Blue Sky Therapeutics.
Since then, we have continued to meet the needs of families
in Utah and Wyoming searching for answers as to how to make life better for
their children and themselves. Our
clinic strives to make therapy fun and client centered and we work directly
with families to enhance positive outcomes at home and at school. The way we take in/process ANY input from our
environment and bodies, is a direct link to how we react to our world. When our perceptions or processing is
altered, our reactions may be altered.
We strive to teach kids how to be comfortable in their environment and
“comfortable in their skin,” so their reactions can be effective, functional,
and behaviorally appropriate as they navigate their academic and social world.
Please stay tuned for my next Blog entry on what Sensory Integration
is. Thanks so much for stopping by!
